Today We Play.

Made for childhood.

We bring children and grown-ups together in play.

Grounded in research and shaped by practice, our work focuses on shared experiences that help children grow and belong.

We work with babies, toddlers and children, and all the grown-ups in their lives: parents, carers, families, nurseries, schools and communities.

About Us

Today We Play was founded by Morwenna Johnson and Matthew Garber - two practitioners with over 26 years of combined experience working with children, families and schools. They met on their PGCE, discovered they thought about childhood in the same way, and never really stopped talking about it.

Matthew has 13 years of experience as a primary school teacher in East London, Columbia and Sheffield working closely with children and families throughout. He currently leads Jubilee Little Explorers - a parental engagement and language development programme for EYFS families at Jubilee Primary School, built around food, play and local exploration.

Matthew founded Boil & Bubble CIC and has been delivering sensory cooking programmes in East London schools since 2022, including specialist SEMH provision. He leads every session himself.

Morwenna has spent two decades working across education, psychology and the creative industries as a primary school teacher, assistant educational psychologist and West End theatre producer.

Morwenna holds a Master's in Psychology and continues to teach in a primary school alongside her work with Today We Play. She is raising two young children in East London, which keeps things honest.
